Hyde Park Sidney Thinking Routine

 What can you see?

In the picture there’s a group of old people playing a giant chess game in the middle of Hyde Park. As I can see, they are in a natural environment surrounded by trees and some other plants. Also, there is some sort of a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that shows that Hyde Park is a nice place to spend your time.

What are these people doing?

As I have already said in the question above, they are playing a really popular table game called chess. A really known and popular game all over the world, but, especially played by elderly people.

How often do you think these people play at the park?

The picture’s people seem to be really focused on the game and on the strategies that are using, so I would say that are some experienced people that tend to play at least, weekly. 

What kind of different activities can you do at the park?

Well, it depends on the park. It is true that you can go out for a walk with your friends, do some sport (football as an example) or just chill  in any park. However, in some bigger parks like El Retiro in Madrid you can also rent some boats and sail through the park’s lake, an original and romantic plan perfect for couples.

Do you have something similar where you live?

Well, yes. In Bilbao there is this park called the Doña Casilda Park (also known as El Parque de los Patos (Duck’s Park)) that has some green areas with some table tennis tables and a lake. It also has some animals like ducks and even a peacock! A really great environment where every Bilbao’s child has spent his afternoons playing when being little.

Where do you usually go for a walk with your friends?

We don’t really plan to go to a place, we just meet at an hour in a place and go for a walk. We can go to the Indautxu Square or to any other place and just talk about how was our day or the week. It is true that we also hang out to some friends’ houses, but is not a thing that we plan to do.

Do you like going out to a park?

Not really… when I was little I used to go there and spend my afternoons playing and hanging out with my friends, but, as I grew up, I stopped going to the park and started focusing more on the homework, the tasks, the exams and so; but I still have really nice memories that I remember with joy.

Do you usually play any sport in a park?

No, the only sport that I do is going out to the gym with my brother, and I don’t really need to go through the park to go to my home, so I don’t really spend time at the park.
